Welcome

This is the official homepage of the Isle of Man Fly Fishers. A group of friends got together in 1995 and decided that they would expand their friendly competition to others of similar mind, and so the Isle of Man Fly Fisher's was formed. Although the club has not been running for many years, we have grown in reputation for fair play, conservation, and fun. New members are always welcome. We can arrange guides for visitors. So please don't hesitate to contact us.

When the club was first formed it was formed as The Isle of Man Fly Fishing Association. Locally we became know as the IOM Fly Fishers and so at the end of the 1997 season a vote was taken at the AGM and we changed our name. Since the club was started not so long ago it has expanded to around 40 members.

We hold competitions at Clypse and Kerrowdhoo, Injebreck and Sulby Reservoirs throughout the seaon. The Club also organises The Open Flyfishing Championships on the Island and is usually held at Clypse and Kerrowdhoo. This is a very popular competition where prizes are always of good quality with rod's, reels and many smaller prizes so everyone that catches a fish takes home something other than the trout.

Celtic Sea Trout Programme

Celtic Sea Trout Programme

DAFF is asking for keen sea trout anglers to provide a valuable contribution to an EU-funded project investigating the status of sea trout stocks.  The project is targeting rivers and coastal waters of the Irish Sea and anglers are being asked to collect scale samples from any sea trout caught in the rivers Sulby and Neb during this season and the following two years.  Full details of how to collect scales, and sampling packs are available from Karen McHarg at DAFF (686044 or karen.mcharg@gov.im) who can also provide more information on the project.  If you are sea trout angling this year, please help out with this important project.
